A dead-time period is only inserted if an output changes from high to low (on to off). Thus, if a PWM duty cycle is chosen such that an output would be on for a period of time equal to or less than one dead-time period, the switch associated with that output will not be turned on during the PWM cycle. In this special case, one will observe only dead- time period per PWM cycle time, rather than the two dead-time periods shown in Fig. 2. |
